Carnival Dream is the latest ship to join the Carnival Cruise Lines family. It’s planned debut is September 21, 2009. Carnival has taken everything they learned through the years about family fun travel. They have incorporated everything into Carnival Dream. There is 19,000 square feet that is dedicated to children through teens. In the dedicated spaces, there are indoor and outdoor play areas. There is also an aqua park that boasts the longest water slide in the cruise industry. In other words, the 130,000 ton Carnival Dream is THE family vacation ship.
Reservations are being taken right now for the inaugural cruise. Some of the itineraries include a 12 day, round trip, Mediterranean cruise from Rome. After that, there is a 16 day trans Atlantic cruise from Rome to New York. This cruise is slated for October 27-November 12, 2009.
After that, there will be two 8 day Bahama/Florida cruises. Departure dates are November 15 and November 23, 2009. From there, Carnival Dream will go to Port Canaveral, Florida for a special cruise on December 3, 2009. This is a one time, 9 day Caribbean cruise. The schedule will then settle in with year round 7 day cruises from Port Canaveral, December 12, 2009. Routes are to the eastern and western Caribbean.

Dimensions of this ship is 951 feet long and 195 feet high. The number of passenger decks is 15. There are 1,540 passenger cabins. There are 4 pools and 7 whirlpool spas. Maximum speed is 21.5 knots.
Some of the food supplies used or prepared in only one week include: 2,005 pounds of pasta, 3,258 pounds of french fries, 6,060 pounds of steak, 2,708 pounds of shrimp, 338 gallons of ice cream, 28,767 bread rolls, 68,920 eggs, 10,068 slices of pizza, 4,961 pounds of cheese.
Disney has two ships called Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. Here are some fun facts and information about these ships. The colors of the ships are actually Mickey Mouse’s colors - yellow, red, and dark blue. The anchor weighs fourteen tons. The propeller weighs eighteen point eight tons.
The interior of the two ships are different. The Disney Magic has an art deco theme. Throughout the ship, there are sleek, straight lines, slender forms, and modern motifs. The Disney Wonder has an art nouveau theme. There is a nature type feeling. Curvy, wave designs and whimsical interiors help reinforce the style.
The resources on the two ships include 1,850 telephones. Total fuel capacity is 20,000 gallons. Each ship can convert sea water into fresh water through distillation. Water that is distilled equals 1,200 tons a day. Water is collected from the air conditioning system. 280 tons of water is collected and used to operate the laundry.
On the bow of the Disney Magic, you will find Sorcerer Mickey. On the bow of the Disney Wonder, you will find Steamboat Willie. In the lobby of the Disney Magic, you will find a statue of Helmsman Mickey. In the lobby of the Disney Wonder, you will find a statue of Ariel.

Norwegian Cruise Line is offering fifty percent off the standard cruise booking deposit. This special promotion is very limited. It runs from January 10th through January 17th, 2009. This is part of the Wave Season Freestyle Resolution Sales Event and can be used in conjuction with the on board credit promotion going on now.
An example of the savings - a three to five day sailing would only require a deposit of $50. A six to 9 day cruise would require a deposit of $125. Booking of cruises of ten days of more requires a $200 deposit. This is down from a normal deposit of $400.
